The snow keeps coming down outside so my mind is still on quilts. Baby quilts are so cute! I hadn’t set out to start a collection of them but I fell in love with these thrifted finds. Specifically, I found these at one of three places. One of my favorite places to find vintage items is garage sales, where I found several of these baby quilts. Secondly, I’ve found treasures at estate sales, including vintage quilts. Lastly, I’ve discovered that thrift stores can be a good place to find vintage quilts. The advantages of looking in thrift stores is that my husband enjoys going to them as well, and they’re year round. Garage sales and estate sales tend to be seasonal.
This first one is my husband’s favorite. He grew up watching Wizard Of Oz on TV. All the familiar characters and scenes from the story are cross-stitched as well as other hand embroidery.

Our daughters watched the story of Bambi over and over! The adorable characters on this quilt are cross-stitched in a nice arrangement to remind you of this classic.

I use this quilt as part of the Valentine’s decor in my house during the month of February. I’ve found that it’s dominant red theme really pops out on this hand-embroidered piece.

This one is a piece of vintage fabric with little teddy bears, dogs, cats, and rabbits. The dominant pink would make it perfect for a little girl’s nursery. It’s been machine-quilted and makes an eye-catching addition to my collection.

My last quilt is a pastel color scheme with appliques of animals outlined in hand embroidery. The pinks and yellows also make it a good choice for a little girl’s nursery.

I am hoping to add more to my collection of baby quilts, so hopefully I can find more at garage sales and estate sales when the weather warms up.
