These handmade sweater pumpkins are so cute to decorate with for Fall, and they are also easy to make!

Today I have been having fun making these sweater pumpkins. I like them so much that I have several different sizes and colors all over my house for Fall! I will be showing you step-by-step instructions so that you can make some, also.

Supplies needed:

Sweater, Fabric, Needle, Thread, Scissors, Pillow Stuffing, Hot Glue Gun, Glues Sticks, Floral wire, Pencil or Pen (for wrapping the floral wire around), Stick (for stem), Items for decorating the sweater pumpkin.

Step 1

Cut a 12 inch circle out of a sweater.

Step 2

Cut a 14 inch circle out of fabric. ( I use old sheets for this.)

Step 3

Hand stitch around the outside of the fabric circle. These stitches do not need to be even and your thread does not need to match the color of the fabric because the stitches will not show.

Step 4

Pull the thread so that it forms a ball, but leave an opening to put the stuffing in.

Step 5

Put stuffing in the fabric circle. The amount of stuffing that you put in your pumpkin depends on how soft or hard you want it to be. If it is stuffed too tightly it can be a little difficult to sew shut. When you have the amount of stuffing that you want in your pumpkin, pull the threads tightly, leaving a small opening to put the stem in, and knot off your thread.

Step 6

Hand stitch around the outside of the sweater circle. These stitches also do not need to be even and your thread does not need to match the color of the fabric because the stitches will not show.

Step 7

Place the fabric ball on top of the Sweater circle and pull the threads so that the sweater circle forms around the fabric ball.

Step 8

Pull the threads tightly, leaving an opening for the stem. Knot off your thread.

Step 9

Cut a piece of floral wire and wrap around a pen/pencil to get a spiral to glue next to the stem. Also get your stem ready.

Step 10

Hot glue the stem and floral wire in the opening of the pumpkin.

Step 11

Then comes the fun part. Decorating your sweater pumpkin! You can use silk leaves, yarn, raffia ,doilies, lace, buttons, costume jewelry… the list is endless!

Step 12

This sweater pumpkin measures about 4 3/4 inches across and 18 1/4 inches around. The dimensions will vary depending on how full you stuff your pumpkin.

These sweater pumpkins will be available in our Etsy Shop while supplies last.
